There has been a lot of issues in the past few years about the continual and gradual worsening of the quality of tap water all over the world. The decrease in fresh water supply has worsened the quality of tap water even to the point of people questioning its safety as a drinking-class water. This problem has led several manufacturers to produce water filter systems that aim to reduce the particulate matter and impurities in our water system. But considering the wide variety of water filters available, how should you choose the best filter system for your home?
KNOW WHAT YOU NEED
In what way will you use the water that you are filtering? Are you using it for drinking or for simply softening your shower water? In any ways, always note that there isn’t a one-type-fits-all filtering system. Different needs call for different numbers and kinds of filters so you should list out first where you would be using the water by which you would want to filter.
If you are using the water for laundry or for shower, you would need a pre-filter that will filter the particulate matter and other impurities that are below 15 microns. Also, you would need this to remove the chlorine traces in your water. You would also need to add a water softener in order get rid of minerals.
If you are using the water for drinking, then in addition to the pre-filter, you would need another stage of filter system that is made of carbon filter which will necessary narrow down the particulate matter to 0.5 microns. After that you would need another normal water filter that can be bought in markets. You might want to invest in an ozone technology filter which will not only filter the particulate matter but also disintegrate the DNA of any bacteria or virus, hence making your water completely safe.
KNOW THE CONTAMINANTS
Research where your government derives its water; may it be from a reservoir, a river or any other stream. Once you know, research what class of river that is and further research the kind of contaminants that river has. After you know the contaminants, list it and the water filtering company should be able to give you the type of treatment machine you would have to purchase in order to purify your water.
HEAR FROM THE PREVIOUS CUSTOMERS
Try to canvass first the types of filters that suits your needs. After that, look for several reviews and opinions from real people who purchased the same filter. From then on you can know whether that filter is worth your investment or will it just cost you several disappointments.
INVESTIGATE THE LEGITIMACY AND AUTHENTICITY OF THE MANUFACTURER
Research on the types of tests that were conducted by that company and see whether your government has really approved of that device. Research whether the company is still starting out or has it produced lots of products before. You would want to trust a company that has been in that trade for a long time compared to a company who is still starting out.
Also, remember that your family’s safety is always at stake with this decision so invest wisely. It does not mean that just because it is cheap, then it is already a good buy. After all, if your family would only get sick afterwards, then it would cost you even more. It also does not mean that just because it is expensive, then it is effective. Weigh down its features and uses and also take into consideration the authenticity and the name of the company. Settle for a system that has a warranty system since this is a good sign that the company is confident enough with their product.
